What is the Artspace Board and what does it do?
br>
The Artspace Board is the Tenant's Association for Artspace Buffalo Lofts. As you know, having been accepted into our community, ours is a unique living situation. When you moved in you signed on to be part of an experience that offers a lot of great opportunities. Artspace USA has empowered us to use our space as a creative resource for anything we can think of (within reason). Within the past 2 years Artspace Buffalo has hosted numerous pubic art exhibitions, performances and parties. We have also shared our space for private parties and fundraisers. We have also created a garden space behind the Northampton lofts that is planted and tended by volunteers. Who decides what happens here? We all do.
What else does the board do?
The can help to mediate issues between residents relating to common space issues. In some cases the board has helped mediate issues between residents and management as well. Issues with which we can assist you deal with security and building and ground maintenance..
Who serves on the Board? Can I get involved if I cannot commit to a board position?
The board is composed of residents who volunteer a portion of their time for the benefit of all residents. They are elected every year by residents. They are full-time and part time workers and professionals who are also artists. They do their best to help but they also need your help.
You can attend any board meeting and/or volunteer to help with any event or project we have going. You can also propose an event or project of your own.
What does the Board talk about or decide on? How is this accomplished?
The board discusses issues that are brought to it by floor/building reps or via direct contact (phone or email to any member). The board reveiws event and exhibit proposals and helps schedule them.
Why should I get involved?
Artspace created these lofts for us to help each other grow as artists and professionals. Serving on the board and/or volunteering for events or projects gives you direct and marketable/transferable experience. It may even help you find a job or get the job you want.
Volunteering is just a good thing to do.
